Memory Wire Case Study
Sterling Spring is not one to turn away from
any challenging custom spring project. In the case of
the memory wire, Sterling Spring was designing a marketing
tool for a company who was working with a leading computer manufacturer. The wire
could be twisted and shaped into any desired form and
then once it was dropped into hot water it immediately
went back to its original form.
Sterling Spring’s main contact was the company
that developed the memory wire. The problem they faced
was finding a custom spring company that could coil
the memory wire into the desired form. In this case
it was an “e” for e-commerce.
As with all of their custom spring projects, Sterling
Spring immersed itself in the task. At first, samples
were constantly being sent back and forth between the
two companies. Complete one-on-one contact between the
client company and the account manager was maintained.
This is how every custom spring project is done at Sterling
Spring. No middleman. All answers come directly from
the customer’s account manager.
Sterling proved its knowledge of custom spring manufacturing
so well, the company gave Sterling Spring the heat-treating
process to manage itself, which saved time and streamlined
the production process. Sterling Spring adapted
to the new task and manufactured exactly what was requested.
This project is just another example of Sterling Spring’s
determination to solve a problem and produce the highest
quality spring product possible. Learning new operations
and techniques on the fly is what keeps Sterling Spring
at the head of the custom spring manufacturing industry.
